5 Signs That It May Be Time to Re-Brand Your Business

It’s now a mere number of WEEKS to go until Christmas (we know, how?) and it’s the perfect opportunity to take some time to reflect on business and make some positive changes for the year ahead.

Ask yourself:

  • What’s been the highlights?

  • What areas of business have been a struggle?

  • How much time has been spent on brand awareness?

The classic saying goes ‘new year, new me’ – and this applies to businesses too.

The new year represents a chance to makes those changes and decisions that you’ve been sitting on for too long. Like a re-brand.

Re-branding?! Sounds scary right.

Well it needn’t be. Generally, the reason businesses are scared are because they don’t know if it’s the right decision. Whether it will have a positive impact or not.

Here are 5 questions to ask yourself as a business to establish if now’s the time for a re-brand.

1. Is it modern?

Look at other businesses around you. Take note of the competitors. Even just brands you like. Do their logos appear more modern and cleaner than yours? Aim for timeless and you can’t go far wrong.

2. Does it reflect what you offer?

Businesses grow, things change and services are added and taken away. Take a plumber for example, they might start with bathroom fittings then branch into heating too. Does your current branding provide an accurate representation of what you currently (and plan to!) offer?

3. Does it align with your values?

In the same way that offerings move on, so do values. A business that once prided itself on cost may now focus on service instead. Your logo needs to voice exactly what’s inside the heart of your business.

4. Are you different?

Over time, competitors branding can seem to morph into one. Why? Because they look to each other for inspiration. If your branding has started to look similar to the companies around you, it’s definitely time for a change.

5. Do your employees buy it?

So easily forgotten, but arguably the most important. Talk to your employees - do they buy into the branding? Do they like it? What do they think it should look like? If you can build a brand that resonates with the front-liners, you’re already halfway there!
